Spain, December, 2004 (cont.)
Waking
fresh from our journey and after chomping on heaps of toast we set about
finding out where to get some groceries. Rumour had it that there are two
large supermarkets nearby, but we did not know where. To the rescue came
Anne and her husband from 2 doors down who kindly offered to take me to
the local superette to get essential supplies – they also took the time to
show me around the complex so that I could get my bearings – thank you !
After acquiring the general directions to the supermarkets (i.e. head
towards Puerto de Mazarron, you can’t miss it) we set off on an adventure
after realising that at the roundabout there are 2 exits for Puerto – what
to do ? So, we took the right exit and ended up along the beach area near
Bahia and then Puerto (where we got lost in the entanglement of tiny side
roads in the centre) So, what would any brazen pioneer do ? Ask directions
? Pah ! He turns around and starts again
J
So, taking the left exit (and negotiating 2 further roundabouts) we found
the supermarkets much to Iluska’s joy (I’m sure it’s genetic) after which
we proceeded to explore some more streets to find our way around (we only
got a map 2 days before leaving as most of the tourist information centres
were closed over the fe stive
period) Christmas day was spent relaxing at the villa after adamantly
reassuring Aidan that Santa knows where he is and will not forget him
(unless he’s been naughty of course). We did the early morning pressie
thing and then proceeded to hide all the batteries for the toys an hour
later (kidding) We had a quiet lunch of roast chicken etc (p.s. did I
mention the Rioja wine is excellent?) and spent the afternoon sunning on
the sun deck – it was a really pleasant day for one and all.
Over the days we were in Spain we spent exploring the area – we tried to
do something different each day and found some really beautiful places.
Summing up, here are a few of those expeditions |
